Woman on Maui dies when convertible goes off 100-foot cliff

A woman died Saturday afternoon after a white BMW convertible in which she was traveling left Kahekili Highway in Kahakuloa and fell 100 feet down a cliff.

Maui fire rescue personnel were called to the scene at 1:44 p.m. and found the vehicle at the bottom of the cliff with the woman's body inside.

A Maui Fire Department helicopter accessed the scene and firefighters determined how best to remove the victim's body.

No other details are yet available.
