NEW YORK » Bruno Mars will have help from the Red Hot Chili Peppers when he performs at the Super Bowl next month.

Mars announced Saturday that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will join him as part of his halftime show.

Super Bowl halftime performers often have collaborators. Last year, Beyonce had Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams from her Destiny's Child days join her onstage, and two years ago Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. joined Madonna for her halftime show.

Mars, who grew up in Hawaii and graduated from Roosevelt High School, was named Billboard's 2013 artist of the year. His hits include the No. 1 song "When I Was Your Man" and his Grammy-nominated sophomore album, "Unorthodox Jukebox," has sold almost 2 million copies.

Disagree. Flea on bass backing up Mars is genius in itself. Throw in Kiedis, Smith and Klinghoffer and you get an intriguing matchup like Pearl Jam playing with Neil Young on "Rockin' in the Free World". Besides, Mars invited them so I'm sure it would be a thrill for him to be on stage with a band he probably grew up listening to and the band that invented punk funk. Go Peppers!!!

It should be Rodrigues joining the Chili Peppers. I'm looking way more forward to the Chili Peppers, although, I like baby-Elvis too.

Personally, I'd like to see a college marching band. I have seen some on the internet that are amazing. One thing for sure though there won't be much skin showing in New Jersey in an open stadium in February. I know the Bowl goes to the highest bidder, but common sense????

Bruno Mars...Not a Fan anymore, really wasnt anyway, just cause my granddaughter loves to listen to his songs and shes only 4 years old, she's a huge fan, not sure how, cause she's only 4 now, she had asked for a hi from Bruno, through his bodyguard/friend, since his bodyguard / friend is Ryan Keaumaka and brother in law to Chad Owens, blah blah, anyways we had asked for a small "heh" to my granddaughter on her 4th Birthday, since weve been longtime friends and family to Ryan Keaumaka, NOTHING....So i guess Bruno, like many others are to Big for the little pee ons, back here in Hawaii....I Guess you have to step on people to get where you are huh Bruno
