Kamuela man, 24, charged in jewelry theft case

A 24-year-old Kamuela man has been charged with stealing jewelry from a Waimea home in August and trying to sell the items to a Waikaloa merchant, according to Hawaii island police.

Brandon Kelii Paulino-Pawai was arrested Friday and charged a day later with second-degree theft and attempted second-degree theft. He was released from police custody after posting $4,000 bail. 

He also was charged with contempt of court.
