A small fire broke out at 1:23 a.m. Saturday in a holding tank at the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.

The tank contained fertilizer pellets.

Firefighters sprayed down the smoldering pellets and extinguished the fire at 5:15 a.m.

“There was no damage to the tank that would require replacement or repair at this time,” said Seelig.

There were no injuries.
