Pali Highway lane reopened after mudslide at Kailua-bound tunnel

Police have reopened the right Kailua-bound lane of the Pali Highway.

The lane was closed since 4:40 p.m. Monday due to a small mudslide.

It was pouring buckets up at the tunnels all day Saturday and crews were out there when my bus went thru. It's likely they prevented a much more serious mud slide but a real fix takes months and can only be done during the dry season. That's how long it took to mitigate the hillside leading into Kailua town a few years ago.
