Suspect accused of attacking 2 men at McCully gas station

A 43-year-old man who allegedly attacked two men at a McCully gas station, was arrested and charged with assault.

Police said the suspect was asked to leave the McCully business on South King street just after 7 a.m. Wednesday. Instead, the suspect allegedly attacked the 65-year-old man. Another man tried to help the victim and also was allegedly assaulted by the suspect.

Bystanders came to the rescue of the two victims.

Eric Birkhaidt, of Makiki, was arrested and charged for second and third-degree assault. He was freed after posting $40,000 bail.
