The U.S. Attorney’s office says a government contractor will pay about $229,000 to settle allegations of improper billing for work at Pearl Harbor.
Federal prosecutors announced Friday J.M. Waller Associates Inc. agreed to the settlement to resolve allegations the Virginia corporation submitted fraudulent claims for payment to the U.S. Air Force.
The company had a contract to provide design architect-engineering services and inspection services for various construction projects at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Hawaii, the company agrees to the settlement but doesn’t admit any wrongdoing.
The false claims allegations include billing for inspection services on days when no construction was performed and using inappropriate labor categories and billing rates for certain tasks.
