Paraglider who died on Haleakala is identified

Maui police identified on Tuesday a 34-year-old paraglider who was found dead along Haleakala Crater Road as Paul J. MacDonald, 34, of Haiku.

Officers responding to a 6:37 p.m. call on Monday found MacDonald's body near the 3-mile marker of Haleakala Crater Road. Police determined that his paragliding equipment got caught on power lines. 

MacDonald died at the scene. An autopsy has been ordered.
