A 19-year-old Wailua man turned out to be a bad Samaritan and was arrested and charged in  the theft of a wallet out of a truck at Kealia Beach, Kauai Police said.

Kaiolohia Youn initially helped other beachgoers push a Nissan pickup truck out of the sand at the beach just after noon Sunday.

But police said Youn suddenly entered the truck and began driving it recklessly down the beach.

Youn returned the truck to the driver, but she immediately noticed her wallet was missing from the front seat.

When the woman attempted to question Youn, he fled in a blue Toyota Tacoma, poice said.

Officers located Youn and his truck at Kapahi Park, where they arrested him.

Officers also located and returned the victim's wallet, police said.

Youn was arrested and charged with unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and released on $2,000 bail Monday morning.

Wow! It was a stupid move, and his elevator probably doesn't go to the top floor, but "stone him to death" is a bit harsh, don't you think? Or is that your answer to every petty crime?
