Moped rider seriously hurt in crash in Waikiki

A man in his 20s was seriously injured in an apparent moped crash in Waikiki on Saturday.

The crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. in the area fronting 2969 Kalakaua Ave.

The man was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local trauma center.

I dont understand why there's no helment law for moped riders, it's crazy. Look at how many people come to Hawaii to visit and leave with permanent brain injures.

Agreed, we need helmets for ALL two wheeled riders. It's a no brainer---I can't see why it hasn't been introduced and passed. Usually, like the lottery issue I can see the bucks flowing in to defeat it, but helmets?
