Island Air's first ATR 72 turboprop aircraft taxied on the tarmac at Honolulu International Airport on its way to the company's maintenance hangar on Sept. 22, 2012.

Island Air, which has been focusing its resources on Lanai, said Tuesday it will discontinue service to Molokai. The last flights will be on April 1.

The owner of Island Air, billionaire Larry Ellison, bought the small local carrier a year ago and owns 97 percent of Lanai.

All of Island Air’s Molokai-based staff will be offered the opportunity to transfer elsewhere within the company.

For customers with confirmed reservations to or from Molokai on April 2 or later, Island Air will contact them to transfer their reservations to another air carrier or to refund the ticket. Customers may also call Island Air at 1-800-388-1105, or submit an inquiry through the Island Air website at www.IslandAir.com.
