No. 8 USC defeats No. 11 Hawaii in volleyball

Tanner Jansen put down a match-high 20 kills and No. 8 USC used a 13-7 edge in blocks to defeat No. 11 Hawaii 25-17, 15-25, 25-14, 25-22 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Brook Sedore finished with 14 kills and Siki Zarkovic 13 kills and 11 digs for the Warriors (9-5, 7-4 MPSF). Setter Joby Ramos added a double-double with 38 assists and 12 digs for Hawaii, which saw its two-match winning streak snapped.

USC setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha) had 45 assists, match-high 18 digs and was in on six blocks, and libero Henry Cassiday (Punahou) added 13 digs. The Trojans (8-5, 7-5) also got 18 kills from Lucas Yoder and six from Maddison McKibbin (Punahou).

The teams meet again Saturday at the Galen Center.
