UH Campus Security warns of suspicious man following female student

Campus Security at the University of Hawaii issued a warning Thursday about a suspicious man following a female student Wednesday in Manoa.

According to the alert, the student was jogging in Manoa about 7:30 p.m. when an elderly couple driving by stopped and warned her of a suspicious man in a vehicle down the street.

When the man approached them, the student and the couple drove together a few blocks to a park near Manoa Marketplace.

The man, driving a gold-colored Toyota with license plate GSU045, followed them, got out of his vehicle, and began yelling and hitting the couple’s vehicle.

Police were called, but the man left before officers arrived.

The man was in his late 20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall, and had a buzzed haircut.

Anyone who sees the man or his vehicle on campus is asked to call Campus Security at 956-6911 or report it anonymously at www.hawaii.edu/security/tip.html.
