The power will be turned off for 12 hours at the Marine base in Kaneohe Bay this weekend to allow authorities to assess an existing electrical high voltage system.

The Marine Corps says the base-wide power outage will occur from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

All buildings, facilities, activities and residents at Marine Corps Base Hawaii will be without power during that time.

The commissary will be closed for the day. The back gate on Mokapu road will be closed until power is restored at about 6 p.m.

The Marine Mart and gas station located at the H-3 gate will remain open.

Marine Corps Base Hawaii plans to publish updates throughout the outage on its Facebook page.
