State recruiting to fill prison guard vacancies

The Department of Public Safety is recruiting to fill prison guard vacancies on Hawaii island, Kauai and Maui.

Applicants must be a high school graduate or have a GED.  Applicants also must pass a physical agility test and have one year of responsible work experience which shows that the applicant possesses the ability to relate effectively with people in following the instructions of a supervisor and giving or exchanging information.  If selected, applicants will move on to the basic corrections training.

The recruiting period ends Thursday.
