LAST UPDATED: 09:13 p.m. HST, Mar 01, 2014

Police arrested a 23-year-old man who injured a server while allegedly attempting to assault another patron at a Waikiki nightclub early Saturday morning.

According to police, the suspect threw an object at the other patron but instead hit a 27-year-old woman who works at the club. The woman suffered "substantial injury" and was transported to a local hospital, police said.

The suspect, who does not have a local address, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
