Waipahu man sentenced to 15 years in prison on meth charges

U.S. District Judge J. Michael Seabright on Monday sentenced a 57-year-old Waipahu man to 15 years, eight months in prison on charges stemming from distribution of nearly three pounds of methamphetamine from August 2010 through January 2011.

Mario Cesar Torres was found guilty by a jury in February 2013 of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and three counts of distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Torres delivered about one pound quantities of methamphetamine on two occasions and was the driver on a third transaction in which a passenger in his vehicle delivered about one pound of methamphetamine, according to federal prosecutors.
