Signs pulled after 'aggressive' shark leaves Pokai Bay

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 03:55 p.m. HST, Mar 06, 2014

Lifeguards have removed shark warning at Pokai Bay following a sighting of an "aggressive" 5-foot reef shark was spotted in the area shortly before noon, an Emergency Medical Services Division spokeswoman said.

The shark was seen eating fish about 10 feet offshore. However, reassessment of the area at 2 p.m. failed to locate the shark.

Reef sharks are not aggressive. Get your story straight. The reason sharks are now coming closer to the shore line is because of people greed. When you fish, take only what you can eat. The ocean belongs to all of our fish, sharks whale and dolphins. When we go swimming or surfing or paddling we are in their domain. Respect their home.
