An 18-year-old Ewa Beach man was arrested after he attempted to cash a stolen check belonging to someone else.

Police said the suspect took the $2,000 check made out to himself to the Kapiolani branch of First Hawaiian Bank Wednesday afternoon.

An employee recognized the name on the check as belonging to a 64-year-old woman.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery, two counts of theft, and unauthorized possession of personal information.
