Tipsters led California police to a man wanted in Hawaii for allegedly stabbing a homeless man to death in a stairwell in Kailua, a CrimeStoppers news release said.

Robert Roediger-Geauque was arrested on Thursday in Santa Barbara, Calif., on suspicion of murdering of Scott MacMillan, 37, who died of multiple stab wounds on Jan. 13. Roediger-Geauque was booked for investigation of second-degree murder.

CrimeStoppers put out a notice on Feb. 28, identifying Roediger-Geauque as a suspect in the murder and seeking the public's help in finding him.

The next day, Santa Barbara police received tips that Roediger-Geauque was in their jurisdiction and called the Honolulu Police Department.

An arrest warrant was obtained on Wednesday, and Santa Barbara police arrested Roediger-Geauque the next day.

Sgt. Kim Buffett, coordinator of CrimeStoppers Honolulu, didn't know how Roediger-Geauque, who police previously said may be homeless, traveled to the mainland. She said Roediger-Geauque has family in the islands.

An extradition is pending. HPD will send officers to California to pick up Roediger-Geauque.

Thank you whoever turned in this piece of rubbish and to the cops who arrested him. Now if the prosecutors don't blow it, perhaps this murdering a will do some hard time.

Well if I stepped on an ant, I would admit it, if it was a crime to step on ants. This guy will remain silent and if found guilty, then so be it. If found innocent then so be it. I don't think he will be able to hire the dream team, as O.J. did, so it will be a level playing field, that is a public defender versus the prosecutor. Also good evidence gathering will help a lot, especially if it was forensic evidence, such as DNA.
