SAN LEANDRO, Calif. >> A Northern California man was “egosurfing” Google when a search of his name yielded a startling result: He was wanted by police.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday that Christopher Viatafa turned himself into San Leandro police after discovering he was on the department’s most wanted list after a Google search of his name turned up his mug shot.

He was being sought for an August shooting during a private party at senior center in San Leandro, which is about 15 miles east of San Francisco. Investigators say he fired several shots from handgun into the ground after getting into an argument.

No one was injured, but police sought Viatafa for allegedly shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

He was listed Saturday on the police Web site as captured
