A motorcycle apparently hit a chain across a driveway in Waikiki early Tuesday morning, sending the driver and a passenger to the hospital in serious, but stable condition.

The Emergency Medical Services Department said the accident happened at about 12:23 a.m. at Ala Wai Blvd. and Wai Nani Way.

Paramedics took the driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 20s and a passenger, a woman in her 20s, to the hospital in serious, but stable condition, EMS said.

The article doesn't state whether or not they wore helmets, but why can't our Democratic legislators pass a law requiring them on all two wheeled vehicles regardless of age. It should be a slam dunk. Seems everyday we get these accidents.

And pedestrians too. More pedestrians killed than bikers so let's just get everyone required to wear helmets :/

Why people choose a 2 wheeled vehicle baffles the mind, when it is dangerous even in a 4 wheeler. As pointed out in another post if they were not wearing helmets, idiots.

Why didn't he see the chain? Was he impaired? Poor lighting?
