By Star-Advertiser Staff

LAST UPDATED: 07:37 a.m. HST, Mar 22, 2014

Hana firefighters and rescue crews are resuming their search Saturday morning for two missing 16-year-old girls in Kipahulu at the Seven Sacred Pools area in Maui.

The girls were part of a group of five hikers Friday when the water in the stream started rising, separating them from the rest of the party around 6:43 p.m.

Firefighters and rangers conducted a land search and a helicopter searched by air. Due to darkness, the helicopter crew stopped their search at 7:15 p.m. and firefighters stopped at 8:50 p.m.
