Hawaii senior Scott Kuzminsky was named the Big West pitcher of the week on Monday.

Kuzminsky fell one out short on Sunday of pitching two complete games in the same week and became the second UH pitcher to win the conference award this season, joining Matt Cooper.

The right-hander became the first UH pitcher since 1988 to throw a complete-game shutout in a 1-0 game as Hawaii blanked Nevada on Monday at Les Murakami Stadium.

He allowed just two hits and one walk and faced the minimum with three strikeouts to help the Rainbow Warriors earn a four-game split against the Wolf Pack.

On Sunday, Kuzminsky struck out a career-high six in 8 2/3 innings to lead UH to a 4-2 win over Alabama-Birmingham.

Kuzminsky allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk to improve to 3-2 overall on the season.

Hawaii (12-12) is currently ranked No. 69 in the RPI heading into its Big West opener at No. 15 UC Santa Barbara on Friday.
