Man allegedly threatened Hawaii Kai mother with machete

A 33-year-old Hauula man allegedly threatened his 62-year-old mother with a machete at her Hawaii Kai home Wednesday morning.

Police said the man allegedly shoved his mother to the floor and allegedly made slashing motions with a machete while standing over her.

He struck a jewelry box nearby, police said.

The incident occurred 9:15 a.m. The woman complained of pain and said she feared for her life, police said.

Police arrested the man at 9:30 a.m. on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
