Island Air plans to add new turboprop planes to its fleet as part of an ongoing restructuring and expansion strategy, the company announced Monday.
The interisland carrier said it has ordered two 71-seat Bombardier Aerospace Q400 NextGen aircraft, and could later expand the order with up to four more planes.
The purchase of the two initial planes is valued at $60.9 million based on Bombardier's list price for the Q400.
Island Air and Canada-based Bombardier did not announce a delivery date for the new planes.
