An 18-year-old Kalihi man has been charged with beating and killing a 38-year-old man in Ewa Beach on March 23.

Gerime Bradley is charged with manslaughter in the death of Melvin Howard near his home on Komana St. at about 12:35 a.m.

His bail is set at $200,000.

Police believe Bradley was one of three men who attacked Howard.

Bradley is accused of kicking the victim in the chest and taking a photo of his limp body with a cellphone.

The men fled in a black or dark-colored sedan on Komana Street toward Pailani Street. Howard sustained head and body injuries and was taken in critical condition to the hospital, where he later died.

Police arrested Bradley on Saturday on suspicion of second-degree murder.

A neighbor said Howard was drinking on the night of the attack and was yelling and banging on one of his family's cars.

Nice! 1 down and hopefully 1 goes to jail for an extended period of time. Two less trouble makers for the general public to deal with. Although I do feel bad that the victim died but it's not so nice having to live and deal with a person who drinks and yells at passerby's and could imagine the neighbors having to deal with all the noise.

Yeah--what was this dude thinking?! If he were to have hung out in Chinatown he would fit right in lol! On a serious note--the crime rate is higher in Chuuk than any other state in Micronesia--and alcohol is said to play a major role in violent crime there--and apparently here as well.

Great, we maso-chists need many more of them here and government officials should have them as neighbors.

In another report, Gerime's dad said, "he's a great kid. Never been in trouble in his life. Football star, church man, and great student." You sure you talking about the right guy?

Why do they always use "Football star" as a meriting remark ? Brutes do play better football than nerds. So what?

Those karate classes are finely paying off 5 to 10 for manslaughter. With our justice system he'll be out in 2!

Based on the comments, it appears that nobody really is concerned about the departed Micronesian man. No empathy or compassion for the victim's family either. Just a bunch of hypocritical posters.

Our delusional Obama orders last year 64000 illegal invaders ( called "undocumented" immigrants ) with serious criminal records were released into our neighborhoods to prey on us. Do I hate this and its originator? You bet!

I wonder if both of them were romantically involved and had just broken up. A Kalihi guy doesn't drive all the way to Ewa Beach for nothin'.
