We all know Danny loves his booze....catch a taxi next time....long as nobody got hurt. In the good old days, someone would've escorted Danny home...no harm, no foul. Today, you're treated like a criminal and the opening story on the evening news....wow!

The threat of arrest deters drunk driving. With less drunk driving, less innocent people are killed and injured.

Big deal. Let us know when one of the leaders of MADD or Keith Kaneshiro get arrested for drunk driving. Then again, if Kaneshiro or anyone in his office were arrested, I'm sure they'll keep it quiet.

Funny how I observed him consuming what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage at Alan Wong's a few months back. Then again that wasn't the point of my comment. I'll spell it out for you to make it easier for you and those like you to comprehend. The point I wanted to make is that had Mr. Kalekini not been a famous local entertainer, this would have been a non-story. Why not publish the info on the other DUI suspects who were arrested at the same time? Oh yeah, the local newspapers did it before but folded under public pressure. :-( I would consider it news if Mr. Kaneshiro or MEMBERS OF HIS STAFF were busted for DUI. Mr. John Karamatsu (former state lawmaker) now prosecutes these cases. It would be news if one of Mr. Kaneshiro or Mr. Karamatsu's colleagues were busted for DUI. This would be highly unlikely though, as I'm sure Mr. Kaneshiro would do everything in his power to prevent it.

Other news to report more important than Danny's arrest. If he drove his car on the sidewalk and danced and sang on top of a police car that would make a story.

D.K. has my utmost respect unlike politicians caught or pulled over for a traffic offense and making feeble excuses, Danny accepted responsibility and took full blame for what occurred last night. Never made any excuses and even said that he should have a driver next time esp. at his age and even remarked he should have called 4-tutututu......D.K. is still Mr. Aloha and has the character and respect of his peers and citizens of this State. Cheers to Mr. Aloha whose msg should be a warning to all you drivers that drink....if you drink don't drive....if you drive don't drink. Nothing more and nothing less.

Though commendable, it was very dumb. He sealed his conviction if he doesn't get the opportunity to plead out. Cops eff up all the time. Anytime you're facing criminal charges (innocent or not), make no statements. Talk to nobody about the situation except your legal counsel. I've seen numerous cases that were dismissed with prejudice (meaning that the prosecution cannot refile the charges) because of mistakes made during the arrest process. We are all "presumed innocent" until "proven guilty". As for publishing the names and photos of DUI suspects, for the short period it was done, I think it was great. I observed many folks arranging for rides when they felt they had too many because they didn't want their faces published as being arrested for DUI.

At that age alcohol is more dangerous and affects people more. I used to drive drunk all the time when I was young and nobody noticed it in my driving. But in old age now I don't dare to. I drive bad enough without alcohol now.
