Another Hawaii suit alleges priest sex abuse

By Associated Press

LAST UPDATED: 06:25 a.m. HST, Apr 08, 2014

Another lawsuit against the Catholic Church in Hawaii claims that a former Bishop sexually abused a boy who went to him to report he had been abused by another priest.

Attorneys for the 59-year-old Honolulu man filed the suit last week claiming that now-deceased Rev. Joseph Ferrario sexually abused him in the 1960s. The same attorneys filed a lawsuit last year on behalf of a Los Angeles man who claimed Ferrario did the same to him in the 1970s.

The lawsuits are filed under a Hawaii law providing a two-year window for claims of sexual abuse against minors to be made, even if the statute of limitations has lapsed. The window closes April 24.

The Diocese of Honolulu didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday.

Another loser trying to make money from the Catholic church. It's sickening to see the attorneys advetising for supposedly abused boys, so they can extort money from the Church. The pictures posted in Sunday's paper contained a few brothers that taught me and my friends at Damien. Of all the words we could use about Damien, sexual abuse would be at the absolute bottom of the list, IF it even made it on the piece of paper. The 2 lawyers advertising for potential extortionists are the modern day equivalent of Muckrakers. But then again, lawyers don't care what anyone thinks as long as their legal bills are paid !!!

I was never a victim, but I can tell you your comments are very damaging. The fact that YOU were never abused doesn't for a minute mean it didn't happen to someone else. Those victims live with the shame and humiliation for the rest of their lives, and have every right to sue for the intentional cover-up by the Catholic Church. And by the way, I was raised STRICT CATHOLIC and went to private Catholic school for 10 years.
