This composite satellite photo shows a few rain clouds from a weather system northeast of the islands blown over the islands by strong trade winds.

Windy weather is expected to continue Tuesday and gradually ease into Wednesday.

Trade winds for Kauai, Oahu and Maui counties are forecast to be between 15 to 30 mph.

Hawaii island can expect trade winds of 15 to 25 mph with localized gusts to 50 mph.

A wind advisory is in effect for Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Kohala and South Point on the Big Island.

Small craft advisories are also in effect for Hawaiian waters.

The wind is also generating a trade wind swell on east shores, where a high surf advisory is in effect for Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island.

The advisories are posted until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The strong trade winds are also blowing some windward and mauka showers in from the northeast.

The National Weather Service says a high pressure system 1,350 miles northeast of the islands is generating the strong winds.

The system is expected to slowly drift southeast and weaken through Wedneday, before dissipating this weekend.

A new high pressure system may bring strong trade winds again early next week.
