The cable-offered WiFi available around Hawaii for several months has now added a free, secure-connection option for Oceanic Time Warner Cable customers.

TWCWiFi-Passpoint is available on nearly all of the company’s more than 33,000 WiFi hotspots around Hawaii and six other markets, according to a company statement.

Subscribers with qualified mobile devices will be able to choose the standard WiFi or to select the new enhanced-security Passpoint WiFi option with the same log-in they have been using while outside their homes, and near a community hotspot, according to a publicist.

“Once they log in the first time, their device will then automatically connect to the Passpoint network when in range,” spokeswoman Judy Barbao told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
