Police and sheriffs are searching for an inmate who escaped the Laumaka Work Furlough Center Saturday morning.

Anthony Robert Delmondo, 27, was not present at the 6 a.m. headcount, said state Department of Public Safety officials.

DPS is investigating how he escaped.

Delmondo is serving time for vehicle theft. His next parole hearing was scheduled for June 14. His maximum release date is June 14, 2015, according to the DPS.

Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either seeking employment or working in the community.

Delmondo is described as Hawaiian, 5-foot-7, 205 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone who sees him is urged to call police.
