Maui airport surveillance video shows a 15-year-old boy, who stowed away in the wheel well of a Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 767, getting out of the the wheel well in Kahului Sunday morning, a state airport official said in a written statement issued Monday.

The video will not be released because of the ongoing investigation, said Marvin Moniz, the Airports Division Maui District Manager.

Hawaiian Airlines Flight 45 arrived at 10:31 a.m. from San Jose, Calif.

Moniz said the boy was found walking the tarmac at Kahului Airport just before 11:30 a.m.

He appeared disoriented and was questioned by a worker near the Hawaiian Airlines jet. The worker alerted security and the Transportation Security Administration and FBI were also contacted.

The boy was treated by airport and county medics and taken to a Maui hospital.

He is in the custody of state Child Welfare Services.

The Department of Human Services issued a statement saying that officials have notified the boy’s family that he is safe.

Child Welfare Services is also working with other agencies to return the boy safely to California;
