Waikoloa man charged with attempted murder

    The stabbing occurred Thursday in Waikoloa in the 68-1600 block of Malie Street.

A 35-year-old Waikoloa man was charged Saturday with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a friend during a fight.

Joel H. White of Waikoloa, was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stabbed a 20-year-old Waikoloa man in the neck. White is charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree burglary. His bail was set at $275,000. 

Police said the stabbing occurred Thursday in Waikoloa in the 68-1600 block of Malie Street. 

The victim, who had multiple wounds to his torso and throat, was taken to North Kohala Community Hospital. 

Police said the suspect went to his friend’s house, where the two got into an argument. The victim was cut with a sharp object and then ran to another nearby house. 

The victim remains hospitalized.
