A former Kailua resident was found fatally stabbed in a Spokane, Wash., house Tuesday, according to news reports.

Members of the victim’s family told KTVB television that the suspect apparently stabbed Tracy Forsstrom Fergerstrom, 46, multiple times and wrapped her in a quilt.

A Hawaii identification card belonging to Fergerstrom was found at the crime scene, according to the Spokesman-Review newspaper website. Her identity was reportedly confirmed by a high school friend from Hawaii.

Fergerstrom’s body was found after 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to court documents, by a neighbor.

The man suspected of killing Fergerstrom, 37-year-old Jeremy Arnold, was shot and killed by Spokane Police several hours later when he drove up to the house in Fergerstrom’s truck and stepped out of it holding a silver object that was identified as a firearm by police. Officers opened fire, killing him.

The Spokane County medical examiner’s office has identified both Fergerstrom and Arnold.

Family members were hesitant to say Fergerstrom was dating Arnold, but they did say she had become very attached to Arnold’s two-year-old daughter, according to news reports in Washington.

The house, in North Spokane, is registered to Stephanie Arnold, the suspect’s wife, who died last summer after her body was pulled from the Spokane River after an apparent float trip accident, the Spokesman-Review reported. Jeremy Arnold survived the water accident.

Friends from high school said Fergerstrom and her sisters attended Kalaheo High School. On her Facebook page Fergerstrom had noted that she graduated from the Kailua school in 1986.

Fergerstrom was born in Kailua and lived in Las Vegas for more than a year before moving to Spokane about four months ago, according to her Facebook page.
