A small-fixed wing, single-engine airplane made an emergency landing Tuesday at Molokai Airport.

The pilot  was not injured, and the plane sustained minor damage when the nose gear of a Piper PA28 collapsed upon landing at 2:30 p.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said in an email.

The plane skidded to the runway shoulder, said Caroline Sluyter, Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

As of 3:30 p.m., crews were working to remove the plane from the runway.

The plane, manufactured in 1984, is registered to Washin Air Inc. of Honolulu, according to FAA data.

Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

This doesn't sound like an "emergency" landing, but rather a loss of control accident upon landing. This plane is used a lot for flight instruction by mostly Japanese students, and with student pilots, sometimes s--t happens.
