Morning rains may give way to afternoon showers

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 03:38 p.m. HST, May 07, 2014

Rain clouds that moved over Oahu and other islands Wednesday cooled morning temperatures. But afternoon showers could still develop as light winds and humid conditions cause clouds to develop over interior and leeward sections of all islands.

But the cooler conditions have lessened the chances of heavy showers, forecasters said.

A front blocking the cooling northwest tradewinds is expected to remain in place until at least the weekend.

The weakened front could move over the islands as early as Friday night, bringing an increased chance of showers through Sunday.

But for now, forecasters said all islands can expect light variable winds, hazy skies with vog moving over smaller islands from Kilauea and afternoon cloud buildup over interior and leeward sections. The rains from the afternoon clouds could be heavy at times.

Tradewinds may return Sunday or Monday after the front passes over the islands.

Really SA, why don't you just do an hourly forecast to give the impression that you're on top of things. This is getting ridiculous already. Weather isn't a story unless it's drastically different than the norm. I don't need someone to tell me it might rain this afternoon.
