The Honolulu Police Department is warning residents about fake police officers who offer to clear an arrest warrant for a fee.

Police said scammers are telling residents they have a warrant for their arrest because they did not show up for jury duty or pay a ticket and offer to clear the warrant for a fee.

Police said officers do not call people about jury duty warrants or ask for money.

On Tuesday, the Public Safety Department issued a similar warning about scammers posing as sheriff's deputies.

Deputy sheriffs also do not call residents about jury duty or solicit fees, the Public Safety Department said.

Anyone who receives these calls is asked to call Honolulu police or the Sheriff Division at 586-1352.

Simple. Don't answer the phone. Check the caller ID, and let them leave a message. We don't answer unless we recognize the person or if we're expecting a call. If they really want to talk to me, they would leave a message. Most times, they won't leave a message.
