Hawaii walked two batters with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning to force in the winning runs as Long Beach State defeated the Rainbow Warriors 3-1 on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
Matt Cooper (4-5) took the loss despite allowing only four hits over eight innings. He left after giving up a leadoff walk in the top of the ninth to Colby Brenner.
Scott Squier, pitching out of the bullpen for the first time this season, walked Garrett Hampson who was trying to bunt and allowed a bunt single to Ino Patron to load the basses.
Squier's second walk of the inning brought in Hampson for Long Beach State's second run and Juliene Jones, who replaced Squier with two outs, threw four straight balls to Johnny Bekakis for an insurance run.
Andrew Rohrbach (6-1) pitched his second consecutive complete game for the Dirtbags (24-23, 10-6 Big West).
Marc Flores hit a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning to score the only run of the game for Hawaii (19-26, 3-13).
Hawaii has scored one run or less in four of its last six conference games.
