Big Island police have charged a 28-year-old Hilo man in connection with a violent rampage that left three individuals in two locations with stab wounds.

Vahara Nrsngha Mims was charged Saturday with first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal property damage, first-degree burglary and third-degree promoting a detrimental drug. Mims remains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bail.

According to police, Mims stabbed a 28-year-old Pahoa man and a 27-year-old Hilo woman around midnight outside a bar on Keawe Street then damaged a car and fled on foot toward Wainaku.

Shortly after, police officers were called to a Ohai Street address where a 49-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times.

Police located Mims at an acquaintance's Hilo home around 7:36 a.m. and arrested him.

All three victims were initially taken to Hilo Medical Center. The Pahoa man was transferred to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. The Hilo man remains in stable condition at Hilo Medical Center. The female victim was treated and released on Friday.
