The Hawaii Army National Guard soldier who died Friday after performing the Army physical fitness test has been identified as Dwayne Torres, 32, of Ewa Beach.
Torres fainted while taking the physical test, was treated by an on-scene medic, and then transported to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 7 a.m., according to the National Guard.
He was on active duty, meaning he worked full-time for the National Guard, and was a member of the Recruiting and Retention Battalion.
The cause of death has not yet been determined.
