Brush fire near Makapuu Lighthouse Trail extinguished

A brush fire that scorched 2 1/2 acres near the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail was brought under control at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to the 5:42 p.m. alarm fire located at the Pele’s Chair portion below the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail.

Five companies and 25 fire personnel brought the fire under control and extinguished it by 7:55 p.m.

Fire spokesman David Jenkins said the cause is undetermined. 

No one was injured, no structures were threatened and traffic was not impacted, he said.
