McCain endorses Charles Djou for Congress

LAST UPDATED: 02:19 p.m. HST, Jun 11, 2014

HONOLULU >> Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain has endorsed former Rep. Charles Djou in his bid to represent Hawaii in the U.S. House.

Djou is running as a Republican in Hawaii's 1st Congressional District. He's running for the seat that Rep. Colleen Hanabusa is leaving to run for Senate.

McCain says he has been impressed by Djou's independence and integrity as a former politician. He says he is proud of Djou's military service in Afghanistan.

Djou served in Congress for seven months from 2010 to 2011 after he won a three-way special election.

I doubt the war-monger's endorsement will sway a single vote in Hawaii.

McCain took about 30% of the vote here when he ran for President, the lowest-percentage of all states. Good luck, Djou - you won't find it with McCain.

Wonder if the "tea party" will endorse him, like they did the Virginia newcomer that unseated Eric Cantor, a veteran Republicans and House Majority Leader?

This November, it'll be your choice between Charles Djou or Donna Kim. Forget about the rest of the aspiring clowns. I think we're in for a big surprise.

Absolutely. Between Djou and Kim it'll be close. Too bad McCain will probably hurt Djou. For the sake of Hawaii's State Senate, though, Djou must win! The clowns likely to seize the local reins without Donna Kim (or David Ige...or even Clayton Hee) around are downright scary. Donna, stay Senate!

An endorsement from the head of the neocon faction in the Republican party does more harm than good.
