Army expects increased noise from helicopter activity

The movement of eight AH-64E Apache helicopters from Pearl Harbor to Wheeler Army Airfield on Tuesday and Wednesday will cause increased noise in the area, the Army said on Tuesday.
The eight attack helicopters and 40 soldiers associated with the movement belong to the 1st Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, based in Fort Carson, Colo. The soldiers will participate in the world’s largest international maritime exercise — Rim of the Pacific, or RIMPAC.
The Apache helicopters will travel the same FAA-approved routes flown by the 25th Division’s current helicopters, around the island of Oahu, to Barking Sands on Kauai, and to the Pohakuloa Training Area on Hawaii island.
An Apache helicopter will be on display during a welcome celebration hosted by the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor on Ford Island on Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The public can view the aircraft and speak with pilots during the celebration.
