Police arrested a 26-year-old Kihei, Maui, man Thursday morning for allegedly assaulting a 53-year-old woman with a dangerous instrument in Haleiwa.

Police said the two were arguing when the man allegedly assaulted the woman at about 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Thursday using a dangerous instrument.

The man allegedly verbally threatened the woman and stole her phone, which prevented her from calling 911.

Police arrested the man 1:20 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of second-degree assault, interference with reporting an emergency or crime and second-degree terroristic threatening.
