Security guard suffers serious injuries in Aina Haina assault

A 42-year-old homeless man allegedly assaulted a security guard at the Aina Haina Shopping Center, sending her to the hospital with serious head injuries, police said.

The incident occurred at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday when the 61-year-old female security guard asked the man to leave and the suspect attacked the victim, police said.

Officers arrested him on Niuiki Circle in Niu Valley following the incident on suspicion of second-degree assault.

CORRECTION: The attack happened at the Aina Haina Shopping Center. An earlier version of this story said it happened at the Niu Valley Shopping Center.
