Police investigating murder at Waimanalo beach

Police are investigating the apparent murder of a woman in her 50s by her foster son in Waimanalo.

Samson Kaonohi, who said he is the victim's uncle, said family told him a 16-year-old boy apparently stabbed the woman to death in her home near Sherwoods Beach in Waimanalo on Saturday around 8:15 a.m. He said the boy was the woman's foster child.

Family identified the woman as Jolyn Kipapa, the wife of a caretaker at the park. They said she was a foster mother to many children for years.

Police did not disclose any information at the scene, but police said a suspect has been apprehended.
