Regal Entertainment Group will add to moviegoers' options by opening a 12-screen theater complex at Kapolei Commons in 2015.

Regal Cinemas will fill a 52,000-square-foot space and its theaters will feature electric reclining seats and upgraded menu options, according to a statement.

Kapolei Commons, at 4450 Kapolei Parkway, opened in 2009 and its tenant mix includes Target, Ross, Sports Authority and the recently opened Pier 1 Imports.

Currently the only movie theater in the area is Consolidated Theatres' Kapolei 16 in the Kapolei Entertainment Center at 890 Kamokila Blvd.

This is good. We won't see competitive pricing, but we should see an upgraded theater experience.

Do we really need two theaters in Kapolei?

I don't consider Kapolei Consolidated a theater. No fresh pop corn, no $1.00 hotdog or senior Tuesday. And better trained workers.

I stopped going to the Kapolei theaters as they are infested with roaches. Hope Regal does a better job of maintaining and cleaning.

Regal has too many commercials before the start of the movie. If I wanted to watch commercials I could do that for free on the TV.

I just hope the City and County changes the timing of the signal lights at the intersection or the traffic coming out and going into the shopping center will go from a slow crawl to a parking lot.
