Small earthquake recorded north of Maui

A small earthquake was centered just north of Maui early Friday afternoon.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude 3.1 quake struck at 12:13 p.m., about 21 miles northeast of Wailua and 39 miles east-northeast of Kahului, at a depth of 21 miles.
