A 50-year-old Maili man allegedly threw a rock at a vehicle, damaging a window and injuring a 38-year-old man sitting in the vehicle.

Officers arrested the suspect near his home on Paakea Road at about 6:45 a.m. Friday, following the incident at 5:55 a.m.

Prosecutors charged him Saturday with first-degree criminal property damage. His bail was set at $20,000.

Police did not say how seriously the victim was injured.

On a business trip through Los Angeles I noted to the taxi driver that I observed the expressway bridge-paths covered with protective metal screens, being born here I thought "oh good, maybe if someone contemplated jumping it might change their mind..., or remember baby Cyrus Belt... ? Anyhey, he told me that the barrier was there for the protection of passing drivers!? That concept of randomly wounding passers-by was foreign to me. Until today.
